As far as I have read around here I am not the only one experiancing a verryyyyy sllooowwww spring this year. While fish are being caught the size and numbers are way down from normal. Myself and a few biologist friends figure things here are about 4 to 5 weeks behind. Here it is the middle of June and the last of the snow just left my backyard a few days ago. Water temps are still way down as well. This being said, just wondering if you guys and gals have grown on any particular plug or plugs which you rely on during these slow times. I have developed a very soft spot in my heart for a 7" handmade original in black/silver. I can almost always rely on that plug to pull through on my darkest days. It may not produce monsters everyday but it very consistantly puts fish in the boat. I am primarily a mack hunter and this plug has quickly found a home in the front of the box. I just need to hit up Allen into developing a custom paint job in a whitefish pattern. I have also done alright on a Casitas behind my downrigger. I seem to have the best luck with that one in the dog days of summer nice and deep. Feel free to add your thoughts and tight lines.......................

Hmmm, a favorite lure for trout? Okay, I'll offer this. When I'm chasing Macks, I like the 7" AC Kokanee. That lure has a tight shimmy which seems to turn the Macks on.
For Browns, I like the AC Skinny. I like the 5" or 6" variety. Generally Silver and Black, but I've also been using the different RT color patterns with success. _________________ Mark-O

Please, don't make me choose just one AC Plug!
Okay, if I had to...You say you like the mackinaw, no? Seven-inch AC Minnow. There, I've said it, the secret is out. At this size you may also be in for some pig rainbows and browns if those species are present in your favorite fishery.
If you want to reduce your numbers overall but increase your chances for monster lake trout, I would also recommend the nine or even eleven-inch AC Minnow. Striped rainbow is my favorite, but silver is also great. Here's my biggest mackinaw, a 25 pounder from Tahoe, and what, pray tell, do you see hanging from its jaw? Ask Allan real nice to paint you one with 'a little bit of purple towards the top, like the ones you make for Wiza'.
